JSA / Crew Risk Assessment
MiniApp 09 turns the defined job from MiniApp 08 into a structured Job Safety Analysis and crew risk-assessment record. It breaks the work into practical steps, identifies chemical and task hazards, assesses risk and records the controls required before work proceeds.
Instead of risk decisions being scattered across SDSs, permits, conversations and separate forms, the MiniApp brings job steps, hazards, exposure pathways, risk ratings, controls, crew consultation and residual risk into one accessible assessment.
Renewal is manual. The licence does not automatically renew.
Risk assessment should reflect the work the crew will actually perform
The JSA / Crew Risk Assessment creates a controlled record of the job steps, hazards, risk assessment, selected controls and workforce review.
Rather than relying on generic risk statements, it assesses the actual work, identifies credible chemical and task hazards, considers exposure pathways, applies the hierarchy of controls and records residual risk and outstanding actions.
Six steps from defined job to crew-reviewed risk control
Turn job information into a controlled, reviewable JSA
You Provide
- Defined job and practical work steps
- Chemical identity, SDS hazards and expected quantity
- Workplace conditions and exposure circumstances
- People, plant, tools and equipment
- Known hazards, exposure pathways, interfaces and constraints
- Existing controls, procedures, permits and workplace requirements
- The workplace risk-rating method
The MiniApp Organises
- Work steps and hazard sources
- Chemical hazards and exposure pathways
- Initial risk assessment
- Selected controls and responsible persons
- Residual risk rating
- Crew consultation and comments
- Outstanding actions or escalation
- Approval and review triggers
Six questions before the assessment can support work
Has the job been broken into clear steps that reflect how the work will actually be performed?
Have chemical hazards, exposure pathways and other task hazards been identified?
Has the risk been assessed using the organisation’s workplace risk method?
Have controls been selected using the hierarchy of controls and assigned where necessary?
Have the people performing or supervising the work reviewed the hazards and controls?
Is the remaining risk acceptable and have required approvals or actions been completed?
MiniApp Logic — The JSA Risk Status Check
Missing or unclear hazard, risk or control information does not mean the MiniApp should guess. It means the assessment requires clarification, consultation or competent review before work proceeds.
A controlled JSA that connects the job, crew and risk controls
Job steps and hazards documented for the actual planned work.
Initial risk, selected controls and responsible actions recorded.
Review, comments and workforce understanding captured.
Remaining risk, approval status and review triggers made visible.
MiniApp 09 turns the defined job into an agreed risk-control record
MiniApp 09 receives the job and workplace definition from MiniApp 08, then combines it with SDS hazard information, actual work steps and crew knowledge to create a task-specific risk assessment.
The completed JSA can then support PPE requirements, emergency controls, SOP development, inspections, handover and Management of Change.
The crew is part of the assessment, not an afterthought
Assess the actual work. Involve the crew. Apply the hierarchy.
The JSA / Crew Risk Assessment is designed to make chemical risk assessment practical and participative. Routine hazards and controls can be assessed clearly, while higher, uncertain or changing risks are surfaced for stronger control, review or escalation.
Break down the job. Identify the hazards. Agree the controls. Review when conditions change.
Important Use Notice
ChemDataMiniApps™ are educational, workplace-assistance and assurance tools designed to support structured chemical-management decisions. The JSA / Crew Risk Assessment can assist users to identify hazards, assess risks and organise controls for chemical work, but it does not determine that a task is safe, legally compliant or ready to proceed.
Users remain responsible for confirming actual work conditions, chemical hazards, exposure potential, risk criteria and control effectiveness, consulting affected workers and obtaining required permits, specialist assessments or approvals before work proceeds.
SafeChemEdu does not warrant that a completed JSA identifies every hazard or satisfies every legal or site-specific risk-assessment requirement. Where there is any inconsistency or uncertainty, current SDS information, applicable legislation, approved site procedures and competent workplace advice take precedence.
Turn a defined job into an agreed risk-control plan
Break the work into steps, identify hazards and exposure pathways, assess risk, apply the hierarchy of controls and review the result with the crew before the job proceeds.
