Chemical-Management RACI Register

Turn workplace responsibilities into clear, assigned and accountable action.

The RACI Register provides a structured workplace record of who is Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed for chemical-management activities. Define each task or decision, assign the appropriate roles and make accountability visible across the workplace.

Instead of responsibilities being assumed, duplicated or left unclear, MiniApp 05 brings tasks, decisions, role assignments and communication responsibilities together in one controlled record.

Why This MiniApp Exists

Good chemical control depends on knowing who does what

“Chemical management works best when everyone knows who does the work, who owns the decision, who must be consulted and who must be informed.”

The RACI Register provides a controlled workplace record of roles and responsibilities for chemical-management activities, decisions and controls.

Rather than relying on assumptions or individual knowledge, it helps define each activity and assign Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed roles so gaps and overlaps can be identified before they become operational problems.

The RACI Control Model

Four simple role types make accountability visible

R
Responsible

The role that performs or completes the work.

A
Accountable

The role that owns the outcome or decision.

C
Consulted

The people whose input is required before or during the activity.

I
Informed

The people who need to know the decision, outcome or status.

The Simple Workflow

Six steps from activity definition to clear accountability

1
DEFINEDefine the activity, task, decision or control.
2
IDENTIFYIdentify the people, positions or roles involved.
3
ASSIGN RACIAssign Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed.
4
CHECKResolve gaps, overlaps and conflicting ownership.
5
COMMUNICATEMake assignments visible to the people involved.
6
REVIEWUpdate roles when workplace arrangements change.
Define activity → Identify roles → Assign people → Confirm authority → Communicate → Review

The Role Checks

Six questions that test whether accountability is actually clear

Activity Defined

Is the activity, task, decision or control clearly defined?

Responsible

Is it clear who is responsible for completing the work?

Accountable

Is one appropriate role accountable for the outcome or decision?

Consulted

Have the people whose input is required been identified?

Informed

Have the people who need the outcome or decision been identified?

Role Check

Are there gaps, duplicated ownership, conflicting assignments or unclear authority?

MiniApp Logic — The RACI Clarity Check

Missing or unclear role information does not mean the MiniApp should guess who owns the work. It means the assignment requires clarification with the organisation.

ACTIVITY + RESPONSIBLE + ACCOUNTABLE + CONSULTED + INFORMED = CLEAR GOVERNANCE
CLEAR & AGREED → READY FOR USERoles and authority are understood and communicated
ROLE UNCLEAR → REVIEW REQUIREDClarify the assignment before relying on it
OVERLAP / GAP → RESOLVECorrect duplicated ownership or missing responsibility
NO ACCOUNTABLE OWNER → ESCALATEAssign an appropriate accountable role before proceeding
What You Get

Ownership Gaps

Visible gaps, overlaps, conflicts and unclear authority requiring action.

Reviewable History

A controlled record that can be updated as people and responsibilities change.

One Role Framework • Several Connected Controls

The same accountability framework can support the whole MiniApps lifecycle

Once responsibilities are defined, the RACI framework can support procurement, compliance, transport, storage, risk assessment, SOPs, emergency controls, handover, Management of Change and waste-management activities.

Define once → assign clearly → communicate → review when things change

Important Use Notice

ChemDataMiniApps™ are educational, workplace-assistance and assurance tools designed to support structured chemical-management decisions. The RACI Register can assist users to define, organise and communicate Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed roles, but it does not create legal authority, alter statutory duties or replace organisational delegations, procedures, competent professional advice or site-specific assessment.

Users remain responsible for confirming that RACI assignments reflect actual organisational authority, competence, reporting lines and workplace arrangements. Role assignments should be reviewed whenever personnel, responsibilities, processes or organisational arrangements change.

Where there is any inconsistency or uncertainty, applicable legislation, formal delegations, organisational procedures and competent workplace direction take precedence.
