RACI Register
Roles, Responsibilities, Accountability & Communication Register
Turn workplace responsibilities into clear, assigned and accountable action.
The RACI Register provides a structured workplace record of who is Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed for chemical-management activities. Define each task or decision, assign the appropriate roles and make accountability visible across the workplace.
a
Instead of responsibilities being assumed, duplicated or left unclear, the RACI Register brings tasks, decisions, role assignments and communication responsibilities together in one accessible workplace record.
Designed for workplace demonstration, implementation and assurance. Final decisions remain subject to organisational requirements and applicable legislation.
Why This MiniApp Exists
Chemical management works best when everyone knows who does the work, who owns the decision, who must be consulted and who must be informed.
The RACI Register provides a controlled workplace record of roles and responsibilities for chemical-management activities, decisions and controls.
a
Rather than relying on assumptions about who should do what, the MiniApp helps define each activity and assign Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed roles.
The Simple Workflow
1 | DEFINE
Define the chemical-management activity, task, decision or control.
2 | IDENTIFY
Identify the people, positions or organisational roles involved.
3 | ASSIGN RACI
Assign Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed roles.
4 | CHECK
Check that ownership is clear and that gaps, overlaps or conflicts are resolved.
5 | COMMUNICATE
Make role assignments visible to the people involved in the activity.
6 | REVIEW
Review and update assignments when people, activities or responsibilities change.
The important change is simple: chemical-management responsibility becomes explicit and visible rather than assumed or dependent on individual knowledge.
Defined Activity
The chemical-management activity, task, decision or control is clearly defined.
RACI Assignment
Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed roles are assigned to the activity.
Clear Accountability
One accountable owner is identified and responsibility for completing the work is clear.
Communication & Role Check
Role assignments are communicated, reviewed and updated as workplace arrangements change.
The RACI Register turns assumed responsibilities into visible, assigned and reviewable workplace accountability.

The Decision Checks
Activity Defined
Is the activity, task, decision or control clearly defined?
Responsible
Is it clear who is Responsible for completing the work?
Accountable
Is one appropriate role Accountable for the outcome or decision?
Consulted
Have the people whose input is required been identified as Consulted?
Informed
Have the people who need the outcome or decision been identified as Informed?
Role Check
Are there any gaps, duplicated ownership, conflicting assignments or unclear authority?
MiniApp Logic
ACTIVITY + RESPONSIBLE + ACCOUNTABLE + CONSULTED + INFORMED = CLEAR GOVERNANCE
Missing or unclear role information does not mean the MiniApp should guess who owns the work. It means the assignment requires clarification with the organisation.
The RACI Clarity Check
CLEAR & AGREED → ROLES READY FOR USE
ROLE UNCLEAR → REVIEW REQUIRED
OVERLAP / GAP → RESOLVE ASSIGNMENT
NO ACCOUNTABLE OWNER → ESCALATE & ASSIGN
What you get
At the end of the MiniApp, the user has a controlled RACI Register showing defined chemical-management activities and the Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed roles for each activity, together with any identified gaps, overlaps or review needs.
The Governance Without Bureaucracy.
Define the work. Assign the roles. Make accountability visible.
The RACI Register is designed to make chemical-management responsibilities visible without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. Routine activities can be assigned clearly, while gaps, duplicated ownership and communication requirements are identified for review.
a
Define once. Assign clearly. Communicate deliberately. Review when things change.
One role framework. Several connected controls
The RACI Register sits near the beginning of the ChemDataMiniApps lifecycle. Once responsibilities and accountability are defined, the same role framework can support later activities including storage, transfer, risk assessment, SOPs, inspections, handover, Management of Change and waste management.

Good governance starts with a simple question — who does the work, who owns the outcome, who must be consulted and who needs to know?
Built for the people who perform, supervise and govern chemical-management activities
Worker / User
Understands their assigned responsibilities and who to contact when input or approval is required.
Team Leader / Supervisor
Coordinates work, confirms responsibilities and ensures required consultation and communication occur.
Chemical / RACI Coordinator
Maintains the RACI Register, role assignments, review points and changes to responsibilities.
Manager / Approver
Provides accountability, approves appropriate role assignments and resolves ownership or authority conflicts.
Governance & Assurance
Roles, accountability and assurance context
The RACI Register assists an organisation to define and communicate responsibility and accountability for workplace chemical management. It provides a structured means of linking activities and decisions to the people or roles that perform, own, advise on and receive information about them.
RACI assignments must reflect the organisation’s actual structure, delegations, competence requirements and legal duties. The MiniApp supports governance and communication but does not create authority, transfer statutory duties or replace organisational procedures or competent workplace review.
Depending on the organisation and chemical-management activity, RACI assignments may be used for:
- Chemical procurement and approval
- Chemical and SDS register maintenance
- Storage and segregation controls
- Chemical transfer and dangerous-goods transport
- Risk assessments and JSA activities
- SOP preparation, review and approval
- Inspections, signs and manifests
- Handover and shift communication
- Management of Change
- Waste management and disposal
- Compliance actions, approvals and assurance
Important Use Notice
ChemDataMiniApps™ are educational, workplace-assistance and assurance tools designed to support structured chemical-management decisions. The RACI Register can assist users to define, organise and communicate Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed roles for chemical-management activities, but it does not create legal authority, alter statutory duties or replace organisational delegations, procedures, competent professional advice or site-specific assessment.
Users remain responsible for confirming that RACI assignments reflect actual organisational authority, competence, reporting lines and workplace arrangements. Role assignments should be reviewed whenever personnel, responsibilities, processes or organisational arrangements change.
SafeChemEdu does not warrant that a RACI assignment satisfies every legal, organisational or site-specific responsibility. Where there is any inconsistency or uncertainty, applicable legislation, formal delegations, organisational procedures and competent workplace direction take precedence.
