SafeChemEdu Team Leader Program

The SafeChemEdu Team Leader Program builds upon the Entry Level Fundamentals pathway and is designed for supervisors, leading hands, frontline coordinators, team leaders, and workers preparing for leadership responsibilities.

The program focuses on chemical exposure pathways, workplace inspections, risk identification, toxicology fundamentals, site chemical management planning, and practical leadership responsibilities for managing chemicals in the workplace.

Learners develop the knowledge and practical skills required to support chemical management systems, participate in inspections and audits, contribute to workplace risk controls, and promote safer work practices across their areas of responsibility.

The program is delivered through a structured blended learning pathway supported by the SafeChemEdu reference text, downloadable resources, assessments, and workplace application activities.


Learning Outcomes

Upon completion learners should be able to:

  • Identify and assess workplace chemical hazards and exposure pathways and associated risks.
  • Explain fundamental toxicology concepts and their application to workplace chemical management.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and chemical management reviews using structured assessment techniques.
  • Evaluate workplace controls and recommend improvements to reduce chemical-related risks.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of site chemical management plans.
  • Support workplace compliance obligations relating to chemical management, workplace health and safety, and environmental protection.
  • Participate in incident prevention, investigation, and corrective action processes associated with chemical management.
  • Apply effective communication and leadership practices to promote safe chemical handling and workplace compliance.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of supervisors, workers, contractors, and management within chemical management systems.
